Francesco Nesi: Wine and Art
I have a bit of nostalgia for my artist friends. I haven’t seen Francesco long, even though we spoke a few years ago. I’d love to share a glass of wine with him. I have no doubt. A Chianti Classico wine is perfect. In Chianti, we met for the first time twenty years ago, where Francesco was born, right here. Francesco Nesi is an established painter, but when we met, he was at the beginning of his career, but not with the style choice, which has remained intact over time. An unmistakable style that I was fascinated by.
Francesco gave me at that time a trio of his paintings depicting Florentine musicians. They convey to me a sense of harmony, joy, and belonging. I deeply love Florence and have a future project to be carried out in this splendid city of art. I hung them up in the office as I spent most of my time there.
He painted as a boy – an autodidact with the painting in the blood. Francesco managed to find his well-defined style right away.
His paintings show a great attachment to his origins: he portrays the Tuscan hills and landscapes with bright colours. But an infinite love for life also transpires. Characters flying, romantic atmosphere, almost musical landscapes. His paintings speak and sometimes play, and it doesn’t take much imagination to hear their music. They are expressive and engaging, at the same time, full of harmony and energy.
And then there is Florence. With its Ponte Vecchio, the Palazzo della Signoria, the Duomo. The city has been painted in his numerous works. But it is also a city that paid homage to him, in the Salone dei Cinquecento in Palazzo Vecchio, with a very prestigious and much-deserved Golden Fiorino Award for painting. I remember those days as if they were yesterday.
He exhibited his works around Italy and then in Europe: in Germany in Monaco and Minden, in France in Paris, in Cap d ‘Antibes, and Chaumont. Then, finally, to go to the United States, exhibiting at the Artexpo in New York in 1997. A constant collaboration began with a gallery in Carmel in California and Seattle.
I love to interpret his paintings. They induce harmony, vitality, poetic note, and the desire to find and follow a personal style. They stimulate the search for one’s artistic vein, which can be expressed in various forms, even the most incredible. It is enough to leave the space to listen, dare, be curious and surely attend artists like Francesco, to ride the wave of fantasy, which brings us back to OURSELVES.
