Invented by Camillo Negroni, it is a drink with intense aromas ad flavours, definitely not for everyone. Its organoleptic characteristics depend strongly on which Vermouth you will use. I love to range from the Carpano Antica Formula to the Riserva Carlo Alberto, but the list is endless. However, one thing is basic: use just real Vermouth, or you will lose all the taste and pleasure of Negroni. It has quite unique characteristics. It is balanced in all its contrasting characteristics: aromaticity, astringency, sweetness, and bitter notes.
The reinterpretations of this Classic Negroni Cocktail are endless. I remember that I was particularly fascinated by one where the strongly spiced notes of pepper and some oriental spices were added. It was perfect in combination with the Tuscan cigar. Same origin, and the same power, they married divinely. Don’t be afraid to dare. The Negroni is so suitable for interpretations.
